The funeral was held recently for Derek Pierce Morrey of Hartford who died on 19th July 2012, aged 71 years. Derek was born in Anglesey on 23rd May 1941, the elder of two boys born to Charles and Annie Morrey, having a younger brother Ian. He was brought up in Chester where he attended the Grammar School before studying at Huddersfield, Lancaster and Leeds Universities. On 2nd July 1966 he married Anne Joiner at Langdale Church in the Lake District, they lived in Silverdale, Morecambe before moving to Hartford where they remained. Derek was a lecturer in Organic Chemistry at Mid-Cheshire College of Further Education. He enjoyed watching and playing cricket and played for Silverdale, Lancaster and Oakmere Cricket Club, he was also a member of Portal Golf and Country Club. He liked listening to modern jazz music and gardening. Derek leaves his wife Anne, daughter Karen and his brother Ian. The service and committal at Altrincham Crematorium were conducted by Revd George Agar. Family floral tributes were received and donations for the British Heart Foundation.
