The funeral was held recently for the late Joan Whalley of Greenbank, who died on 30th July aged 81 years. Joan was born in Northwich, on 19th January 1931, to parents Arthur and Gladys Littler. She was their second child, having five brothers Harold, Frank, George, John and Ray. She married Eric Whalley at St Helenís Parish Church, Northwich in June 1950, they settled in Rudheath before moving to Greenbank, where she lived for 60 years until her death. Sadly she was widowed in 1974. Joan worked for North Western Bus Company, where she met Eric. She later worked at Mid-Cheshire College until her retirement. Joan enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She leaves her sons & daughters-in-law Mike & Mary, Keith & Lyn, Geoff & Pauline, Brian & Julie, Ray & Bernadette, Colin & Annelise, her grandchildren and great grandchildren and brothers John & Ray. The funeral service was held at Hartford Parish Church, conducted by Revd James Hughes, prior to interment in the Churchyard. Family floral tributes were received and donations for the University Hospital of North Staffs Coronary Care Unit. Arrangements by George Bell Funeral Service, Lostock Green, Northwich.
