Cookson, Thomas Frank

A Celebration of the life of Thomas Frank Cookson took place on Friday 20th December at St Mary’s Church, Rostherne and he was then laid to rest near his family farm at Holy Trinity Church, Little Bollington. This Celebration was led by Reverend Philip Robinson and his wife Patricia. Thomas was born on 13th April 1983 the only, but very special son of Frank and Elizabeth Cookson of Agden Brook Farm, Little Bollington and treasured brother of Ruth and her husband Eion. He was educated at Bladon House School in Burton on Trent from 1990 to 1998 where his independence and special requirements were encouraged so that he could return to work on the family farm with the other members of staff. Admired by all who met him for his enthusiasm for life Thomas became adept in handling farm machinery and milking cows on a daily basis, this was as well developing the intricate skills of tapestry and creating beautiful pictures as one of his many hobbies. These pictures were exhibited as part of the Young Farmers Clubs hobbies and pastimes competition at Reaseheath. His love of the Young Farmers, their competitions and dances gave him great delight and this cumulated at the Cheshire County Show with the annual, light hearted water fight between many members of the Clubs. Thomas also had many other friends at the Chelford and Beeston Auctions where he accompanied his Granddad and in recent years his Dad when buying and selling livestock where he loved to meet up with his contemporaries. Thomas studied and had a great passion for football and in particular Manchester United where he went to nearly every home game- in the former years with this Grandad and Uncle Tony and in recent years with his Mum and Aunty Anne – he was very astute and seemed to know all of the transfers before they actually happened! He looked forward to the annual family holidays in Jersey and this was where he met the love of his life Helen and although she lives in Lincolnshire this did not stop them enjoying a very special relationship. The Celebration of Thomas’s life, although too soon, showed how a Young Man with such a love of life and people had touched hundreds from all corners of the country that wished to pay tribute to him. Everyone joined in the uplifting service to share their love and memories of Thomas which was summed up with one particular quote: “.... no matter whom he met, Thomas won everybody over with his smile, he brightened up the darkest day with his infectious joy and he added his special sparkle to all our lives....” Frank, Elizabeth, Ruth and Eion have been totally overwhelmed by the kindness shown to them by their family, friends and colleagues and would like to profusely thank them.
