NORTHWICH GUARDIAN Funeral report for the late Hazel Cross The funeral was held on 20th October for the late Hazel Cross of Hartford who died on 9th October 2014 aged 82 years. Hazel was born in Barnton on 21st September 1932 to parents Evelyn & Thomas Allen, she had one younger sister who pre-deceased her in 1974. Hazel grew up in Barnton and attended Barnton Primary School then Sir John Deane’s Grammar School, Northwich. Hazel was a secretary in the District Bank in Northwich. On 9th July 1955 she married Ted Cross at Anderton Baptist Church and they settled in Hartford. Hazel played the organ at Anderton Baptist Church for 52 years; pianist for Hartford W.I. Choir for 10 years; a member of the Sonnenburg Singers Choir for over 30 years and a member of Hartford Methodist Choir for 15 years. She was treasurer to NSPCC committee and President and Officer to the Inner Wheel Club of Northwich, she was also a keen flower arranger. Hazel is survived by her husband Ted, children Judith & Nic and grandchildren Sarah & James. The service was held at Hartford Methodist Church followed by committal at Vale Royal Crematorium. Family flowers were received and donations for St Luke’s (Cheshire) Hospice. Arrangements by George Bell Funeral Service, Northwich.
