Davenport, Royston (Roy)
The funeral was held on 19th August for the late Royston Davenport who died on 11th August 2005, aged 74 years. Roy was born on 15th March 1931 at Bucklow. As a young man he found great interest in cars and engines and was a natural driver. He started work as an apprentice car mechanic at Knutsford Motors where he worked for 23 years, serving 7 years with the Ford Motor Company to become a fully qualified mechanic. He also worked at Mardons Paper Mill for 13 years. Roy completed his National Service with the 4th Queen’s Hussars, as a tank driver. Roy was a keen motor bike fan; he went to the Isle of Man every year to watch the T.T. races. He also loved football and was a Witton Albion supporter, he liked to go and watch them when they played at home. Roy enjoyed collecting stamps from around the world. He was a good, kind person who liked to help people if he could. Roy is survived by his cousins and friends. The funeral service and committal were held at Altrincham Crematorium, conducted by Rev Richard Byass. As well as family floral tributes, donations were received for The British Heart Foundation.
