Harris, Albert Edward (Ted)
The funeral was held on 11th April for the late Albert Edward Harris who died on 1st April 2005 aged 89 years. Mr Harris, known as Ted, was born at Park Hotel, Altrincham on 18th December 1915. He grew up in Knutsford and attended St Vincentís School. After leaving school he worked as a solicitorís clerk for Keoghs Solicitors in Altrincham. In 1936 he enrolled as a Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve; he was mobilised on 31st August 1939, at the outbreak of World War 2. In 1942 he volunteered for transfer to midget submarines (X craft). After his demob, he settled in London and in 1946 he joined the BBC as an electrician, after 10 years he went to work for Granada TV as a lighting director. Ted married his wife Elizabeth in 1962, three years later they moved to Knutsford following the closure of Granadaís studio in London and daughter Sarah was born in 1967. Ted retired from Granada in 1980. In 1982 Ted began research for a History and Recollections of the Parish of St Vincent de Paul, Knutsford. Ted is survived by his wife Elizabeth and daughter Sarah. Requiem Mass, celebrated by Father John Joyce and assisted by Father Joseph Cahill was held at St Vincent de Paul RC Church, Knutsford prior to interment at Knutsford Cemetery.
