Horrigan, William (Bill)
The funeral service was held recently at Walton Lea Crematorium for William Horrigan of Great Budworth who died on 13th August 2005 aged 97 years. Mr Horrigan, known as Bill, was born in Anderton to the late Frederick and Alice Horrigan and was the second of their three sons. He also had a sister and they were brought up in Anderton and Barnton. He attended Brunner School in Barnton and on 6th April 1935 he married Gladys Elizabeth Deakin at the Wesleyan Chapel on Station Road, Northwich. They settled firstly in Warrington Road, Great Budworth before moving to Westage Lane where they remained. Billís war service was spent at Risley working with munitions and at Randles in Runcorn. He worked as a green-keeper and gardener locally before going to the Rock Salt Mine at Winsford. He then moved to ICI at Lostock where he was employed as a labourer and then clerical worker. He was widowed in 2003. He loved gardening and the countryside, was a supporter of Witton Albion and he enjoyed music, especially brass bands. He is survived by his daughter and two sons and their spouses, three grandchildren and one great granddaughter. In addition to family flowers, donations were received for the Macmillan Nurses.
