Jeffries, Sarah Ann

The funeral was held on 2nd June for the late Sarah Ann Jeffries of Rostherne who died on 24th May 2005 aged 91 years. Ann, as she was known, was born in mid Cheshire and was mainly brought up by her grandmother. Whilst in service she met her husband Ted. They moved to Rostherne in November 1943 and raised six children. Ann was very proud of her family which now extends to 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Annís door was always open to friends and neighbours alike and she was always there to help and listen to anyone who needed her. She loved sport, particularly tennis and football. In fact when Wimbledon was on, the television was never off. She even used to watch whilst doing her ironing and housework. Ann worked hard whilst also bringing up her children. It was only when they were grown up that she felt she could work full time. She worked at the Swan for many years until she, reluctantly, had to retire. During their retirement Ann and Ted visited many parts of the world, including Canada where they rediscovered long lost members of Tedís family. Ann was not just a mother, grandmother and great grandmother but she was an extraordinary and caring woman who made a lasting impression on all who knew and met her. The service was held at St Maryís Parish Church, Rostherne and was followed by interment in the churchyard, conducted by Canon N D Rogers. Floral tributes were received and donations for the British Heart Foundation, Knutsford. Arrangements by Dodgsonís Funeral Service, Knutsford.
