Mainwaring, James G

The funeral was held on 10th February for the late James Mainwaring of Northwich who died on 31st January 2005 aged 89 years. James was born in Northwich to the late James & Fan Mainwaring, he also had two brothers George and Jack and a sister Lilian. Jim as he was known, was brought up in Northwich and attended Church Walk School, Witton. He married Margaret Sarah Patten at St Helenís Church, Witton in 1941, they settled in Hadfield Street, Northwich before moving to Hayhurst Close where Jim lived for 44 years. He was widowed in 1992. Jim worked as a boilermaker and blacksmith, he was employed at I.C.I. for 51 years as a black smith striker. As a lad Jim played in goal for local football teams and was a keen Manchester United supporter. In his time Jim was a top darts player in Cheshire. Jim is survived by his adopted son Eddie, nieces and nephews. The funeral and committal were held at Altrincham Crematorium, Rev Martyn Cripps conducted the service.
