The funeral was held on 7th February for the late Nora Mounfield who died on 23rd January 2005 aged 90 years. Nora was born at The Limes Farm, Whitley to the late Thomas and Jane Clarke, she had one older brother. Nora was brought up in Whitley where she attended the village school. On 29th May 1939, Nora married Roy Mounfield at Latchford Methodist Church, Warrington. They settled at Cape Farm, Plumley before moving to Hulse Farm, Lach Dennis. After retiring from farming in 1970 they moved to Cookes Lane, Rudheath. Nora was widowed in August 1986; she went to live at Weaver Court in 1997 until 2003 when she moved to Sandiway Manor. Nora helped her husband on the farm and bred turkeys until their retirement in 1970. For over 50 years Nora had been associated with Lostock Green Chapel, firstly by playing the piano for Sunday School and later she played the organ for 30 years. Nora is survived by her daughter Dorothy, son in law Raymond, three grandsons and three great granddaughters. The funeral at Lostock Green Methodist Church, conducted by Rev Richard Towle was followed by interment at Lostock Churchyard. As well as family floral tributes, donations were received for Lostock Green Methodist Church and Friends of Sandiway Manor.
