Sproston, Betty

The funeral was held on 27th May for the late Betty Sproston who died on 18th May 2005 aged 76 years. Betty was the only child of Lily and Thomas Bostock, born at Daisy bank Farm, Mere. She was brought up in High Legh where she attended school and later went to Altrincham Grammar School. Betty married Jeffrey Sproston on 16th April 1952 at St Mary’s Church, Rostherne, they settled at White House Farm, Plumley. Where they remained for 36 years before moving to Plumley Moor Road for the last 17 years. Betty worked on their farm, helping her husband. She was a member of the W.I. and helped with exhibits at the Cheshire Show. She enjoyed cooking, icing cakes, gardening and spending time in the country. Betty was a homemaker who enjoyed her family and grandchildren, village life and the church. She is survived by her husband Jeffrey, children David, Ruth and Andrew, her six grandchildren and a great granddaughter. The service was held at St Oswald’s Parish Church, Lower Peover, followed by interment in the Churchyard, conducted by Rev Dr Jane Lloyd. In addition to family floral tributes, donations were received for East Cheshire Hospice. Arrangements by Dodgson’s Funeral Service, Manchester Road, Knutsford.
