The funeral service was held at St Luke’s Church, Winnington for Mary Esther Ashbrook of Winnington who died on 15th September 2005 aged 77 years. Mrs Ashbrook, known as Esther, was born in Wincham, the youngest child of the late Lucy and Abraham Pemberton. She had three brothers and three sisters. She was brought up and attended school in Rudheath. She married her husband, Arthur Ashbrook, at Holy Trinity Church, Castle on 22nd July 1950 and they settled first in Davenham before moving to Winnington where they remained. Esther worked at Northwich Laundry at the Drillfield and as a cleaner for ICI, Winnington, where she remained until her retirement. She enjoyed bingo, days out at the seaside, singing in the Age Concern Choir and the company of her grandchildren. She is survived her husband, Arthur, daughters Denise and Yvonne, son Robert and grandchildren Adam & Sarah. In addition to floral tributes, donations were received for Acorn Hollow. The service, which was conducted by Rev Sheila Hughes, was followed by committal at Walton Lea Crematorium. Arrangements by George Bell Funeral Service, Greenacre Funeral Home.
