Bennett, John Hough
The funeral service was held at Walton Lea Crematorium on Monday 19th September 2005 for Mr John Hough Bennett of Winnington who died on 13th September aged 80 years. Mr Hough was born on 28th March 1925, the only child of Mr & Mrs Jabus and Frances Bennett. He attended school in Winsford and lived in various places, including Moulton, Davenham, Whitegate, finally settling in Winnington. Whilst he was married he had one child, a son, who sadly died in 1981 when he was 28 having suffered from diabetes causing blindness. During the war John served in the Merchant Navy and he also worked for ICI as Clerk of Works for over twenty years. He was a very modest and private man who enjoyed astronomy, fishing, for which he won several trophies, gardening, his dogs Rufus and Jodie, and his charity work for the RNIB. In addition to floral tributes, donations were received for the RNIB and St Luke’s Hospice. The service was conducted by Rev David Goodwin.
