The funeral was held on 11th January for the late Audrey Hyett of Comberbach who died on 4th January 2006 aged 93 years. Audrey was born in Comberbach to the late Harry and Ellen Rayner, she was the eldest of five sisters. She was brought up in Comberbach and attended the village school, later walking to Winnington Park School. Audrey went to college in Manchester to learn shorthand and typing, then went to work as a secretary at I.C.I. During the war she was a driver in the Ambulance Service. Audrey met George Hyett at I.C.I. and they married in 1943, living first at Hartford then Frandley, she was widowed in 1983, they had no children. Audrey had many friends and loved gardening and flower arranging. She loved to travel the country and attended W.I. College to learn lampshade making. In 1990 Audrey returned to Senna Lane, she had been a long time member of the Methodist Chapel, Comberbach. She is survived by two sisters, a brother in law, nephews and nieces. In addition to family floral tributes, donations were received for Comberbach Methodist Chapel. The Service of Thanksgiving at Comberbach Methodist Chapel followed committal at Walton Lea Crematorium; conducted by Rev Richard Towle.
