The funeral was held recently for the late Joan Lath who died on 30th December 2005 aged 83 years. Joan was born in Winsford, the only child of the late Frederick and Elizabeth Rowlinson (née Newall). She grew up in Winsford and went to school there. Joan married Harry Lath of Sheffield at Bethesda Chapel, Winsford in 1946, they settled in Northwich, retiring to Cuddington. Joan was widowed in 1992. On leaving school aged 14, Joan went to work at Lilyworks, sewing clothes. Later during the war she was a Civil Nursing Reserve at Arclid, near Winsford, then at Wright-Kingsford Home for Children in Finchley, London. Joan enjoyed making clothes, needlework and knitting. She is survived by sons Stephen, Philip and Jeremy, daughter in law Liz and granddaughter Melanie. The service was held at Northwich Methodist Church and was followed by committal at Altrincham Crematorium, conducted by Rev David Goodwin. As well as family floral tributes, donations were received for National Children’s Homes.
