Daniel, Margaret (Allie)
The funeral was held at St Vincentís Roman Catholic Church, Knutsford on Friday 3rd March of Mrs Margaret Daniel, best known by her family and all her friends as ALLIE, taken from her unusual Christian name ALACOQUE, following her death on 21st February aged 90 years. Born in Knutsford, daughter of the late John & Mary Colgan, she was the 3rd daughter she also had one brother, but she was the last surviving member of her original family. She attended school in Knutsford and worked for a number of years before and after her marriage at the former Handley & Higgins, Ironmongers in Princess Street, Knutsford. She married her husband Jack at St Vincentís Church in 1939, settling in Cranford Avenue. Proud parents of two daughters Patricia and Catherine, son in law Graham and three grandchildren, Wendy, Daniel and Andrew. Allie used to help her husband run the flower shop in King Street, Danielís Florist, located near the Nat West Bank, which many Knutsfordians will remember. They were assisted by daughter Catherine until they retired after the death of Mr Daniel in 1976. Allie was a life long member of St Vincentís Church, belonging to the Ladies Group and enjoying the fellowship. Living for many years in Lowe Drive, Knutsford, her daughter Catherine died in 1996, but Mrs Daniel enjoyed many trips to Ontario, Canada visiting her daughter Patricia and all the family. She also enjoyed knitting in her spare time. Latterly Mrs Daniel lived at Leycester House at Mobberley before being well cared for at Sharston House since last December. The funeral mass was conducted by Rev Father John Joyce and assisted by Canon Joseph Cahill before interment in the family grave at Knutsford Cemetery. As well as floral tributes, donations were received for the St Vincent de Paul Society.
