The funeral was held at Brook Street Unitarian Chapel on Tuesday 7th March of Mr Ben Warman following his death on 22nd February 2006 aged 75yrs. The second youngest of seven children to the late George & Sarah Warman, Ben & his younger brother were born at Knutsford whereas the other brothers and one sister were born in South Wales where father was working in the coal mines. The family came to Knutsford in 1929, Ben attending school at the Old Cross Town School, before starting work for the Co-op first at Altrincham then at Knutsford. Ben did his National Service in the Rifle Brigade, returning to the Co-op after the war. Ben later emigrated to New Zealand for three years before returning to Knutsford and taking up work at Ilford. He continued working there for 30 years until his retirement. Never married, Ben had a great interest in literature, attending the literature society and very much enjoying cruising around the Mediterranean, especially if the cruise had speakers on literature and the architecture around the Mediterranean. Having been in the ATC in his younger days, Ben always kept an interest and supported the local re-unions. Ben is survived by his brothers Haydn, David & Ron and their families. The service, conducted by Rev Alex Bradley, was followed by interment at Knutsford Cemetery. As well as floral tributes, donations were received for the Macmillan Nurses and the East Cheshire Hospice.
