The funeral was held on 2nd March for the late Ethel Gunn of Rudheath who died on 21st February 2006 aged 85 years. Ethel was born in Church Street, Moulton to the late Mary and Arthur Goulding, she had an older sister, Lilian. Ethel was brought up in Moulton, where she attended Moulton School. She married Kenneth Gunn on 3rd July 1948 at Moulton Parish Church and they settled in Church Street, Northwich before moving to Victoria Road and finally to Maitland Wood Close, Rudheath. Ethel was widowed in 1974. During the second world war Ethel worked at I.C.I., she had various other jobs; her last job was at Victoria Road School, where she enjoyed working for many years as a dinner lady. Ethel liked to go to Queen Elizabeth House for lunch, she also went to Wings Club and enjoyed playing bingo at Castle Private Club. She was a member of Vale Royal Pensioners Association and made many friends, going on holiday with them, arranged by Mrs Shaw and the committee, to whom she was very grateful. All her life Ethel enjoyed knitting for family, friends and fundraising. The funeral service and committal at Altrincham Crematorium was conducted by Rev Brian Peace. As well as family floral tributes, donations were gratefully received for Northwich Victoria Infirmary and St Luke’s Hospice.
