The funeral service was held at Lostock Parish Church on Thursday 9th March for Albert Edwin Phillips following his death on 3rd March 2006 aged 84 years. His death quite quickly followed that of his wife Lena who died at the beginning of January this year. A well known local sportsman, having played football for both Northwich Vics and Witton Albion, also playing cricket for Lostock for many years. He left the Royal Navy in 1946, working at ICI and then later joining the Gas Board working in the town centre Gas Works in Watling Street, where the gas holder will be remembered by many. Married in 1947 to his late wife Lena, they had no children but he is survived by his one brother and one sister, two sisters in law and his nieces and nephews. The service at Lostock Parish Church was followed by interment in the churchyard, conducted by Rev Barry Jobber.
