Burrows, Ray

The funeral was held on 29th March for the late Raymond Burrows of Greenbank who died on 21st March 2006 aged 58 years. Raymond was born in Winnington, the second youngest of a family of eight children. He attended St Wilfridís R.C. School, after leaving school he spent many years working in the construction industry. Ray never married and lived with his parents, giving up his job to become a full-time carer when their health began to fail. Following his fatherís death in 1991, he continued to look after his mother until she passed away in 1993, when he found work as a security guard for James Irlam & Sons at Chelford. In his younger days he played amateur football, and because of his love for the game became a very successful club secretary. He was a fan of Manchester United and Northwich Victoria Football Teams and until recently went along to support Vics. Ray enjoyed horse racing and had visited many of the race courses in England, having been very lucky with some of his bets. Ray was a devout catholic who attended church regularly; he was a very quiet man who was kind, thoughtful and who could be relied on in a crisis, he will be greatly missed by all his family. He is survived by three sisters Joyce, Jean and Mo, three brothers George, Steve and Phil (his brother Dave pre-deceased him in 2001), also nephews and nieces and great nephews and great nieces. The service was held at St Wilfridís R C Church prior to interment at Northwich Cemetery, conducted by Canon P Healey. In addition to family floral tributes, donations were received for the British Heart Foundation. Arrangements by George Bell Funeral Service, Northwich.
