The funeral was held on 28th April for the late Barbara Mainwaring of Sandiway who died on 20th April 2006 aged 70 years. Barbara was born in Moulton Village to Mary and Reg Peters, she had a younger brother John, who pre-deceased her. When she was two her family moved to Hartford where she attended primary school, later she attended Verdin Grammar School at Winsford. Barbara married Bill Mainwaring on June 2nd 1956 at Hartford Parish Church, they settled in Winsford for three years, living in Davenham for 15 years, then moved to Sandiway, where they remained. Before her marriage Barbara worked at I.C.I., later she was employed as part-time school secretary at Wharton Junior School. Her interests included gardening and playing golf, she was Captain at Sandiway Golf Club. Barbara was a keen bridge player, playing in Sandiway Village and at Sandiway Golf Club. Following her husbandís retirement Barbara and Bill enjoyed many holidays abroad, travelling to Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Alaska, they also went on cruises around the Caribbean and Europe. Barbara leaves her husband Bill, daughter Alison and son Peter. The service was held at Sandiway Parish Church conducted by Rev Martin Cox and was followed by interment at Gorstage Cemetery. In addition to family floral tributes, donations were received for R.N.L.I. and Guide Dogs for the Blind.
