Wingfield, James (Jim)
The funeral was held on 1st June for the late James Wingfield of Barnton who died on 25th May 2006 aged 80 years. James was born in Barnton to James and Florence Wingfield, he had two brothers and one sister. He was brought up in Barnton and attended the Church School and Brunner School. He married his wife Joyce on 24th January 1948 at St Luke’s Church, Winnington, they settled in Barnton where they remained. During the War Jim served with the RAF in India. He worked at I.C.I. as a foreman process worker. Jim enjoyed gardening, walking and caravanning holidays. He played bowls at Comberbach Bowling Club and Barnton Cricket Club. Jim leaves his wife Joyce, four children, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. The service at Barnton Methodist Church, conducted by Rev David Goodwin, was followed by committal at Walton Lea Crematorium. In addition to family floral tributes donations were received for St Luke’s Hospice.
